Things have gotten appreciably busier for Harvey, now that he's out of Arkham. Setting up his little business endeavor. Dealing with Eddie and Judah. Covering his tracks, making sure he doesn't get put back in Arkham ( Read more... )

Holidays, shmolidays. A girl needs to stretch her legs. She's been re-acclimating herself to the city, the peculiar rhythm of these roofops, the idiosyncrasies of the architecture. And there's nothing like watching the moon rise over the docks to take your mind off your problems.

She's been shocked over how quiet it's been. Everything in the papers seemed to imply mass chaos, or at least more explosions. Still, she's kept a hand in, with a couple of small burglaries, more for the challenge than any material gain. But she's been mostly bored.

Bored cats tend to get curious.

So of course, she's poking around the warehouse district, probably sticking her nose where it adamantly doesn't belong.

Look, it helps to know exactly who your neighbors are, okay?

It's a nice little setup, though an investigation of the more... utilitarian... areas makes it obvious that either Harvey isn't the only guy setting up shot here, or Mr. Dent has a previously-unreported fondness for chemistry.

Through thin walls, Mike Engel blathers on.

Hurm. She's not a science-y type, but you don't get too far in her line of work without knowing just a little about things like demolitions.

That isn't what this looks like. Drugs, maybe?

Curiouser and curiouser.

Selina never did like drugs. And she's still got some friends out on the streets. This may bear watching.

What kind of evil drug-lord watches Mike Engle, though? Surely all the mad scientists go in for NPR. She's going to have to creep closer, isn't she? She can't help herself.

You know, it's amazing how much noise a TV can cover up.

Someone getting up off a couch? Sure. Retrieving a gun from a coat hanging over the back of said couch? Padding over carpet, in stocking-feet, to the door?

Apparently so.

The door swings open, and Harvey gets a great chance to show off his multitasking abilities -- looking startled at there actually being an intruder, and raising his gun to take aim at selfsame, at the same time.

The sound of the hammer being cocked back cuts through the background noise like a hot knife through butter. (Like a bullet through a cat burglar's skull.)
