Part 8: Curious

Something has changed since Jae’s talk with Changmin. You’re not exactly sure what, but their interactions are far more relaxed and natural than they had been even before this whole mess. Changmin looks genuinely happy, smiling openly for the first time in… you can’t even remember. Months, it seems like.

Yunho is obviously just relieved that your little family unit can go back to normal, but you and Junsu know better. One of two scenarios had been played out here; you’re just not sure which one it is.

It’s entirely possible that their discussion led to nothing more than Min realizing he probably needed to cover his bases. Nothing confessed, nothing solved, and more problems further down the road. (Junsu stares at you when you propose this theory. “Pessimist.” You shrug.)

Your other theory has Jae and Min confessing undying love to each other. You like this one a lot more. (“Sappy romanticist.” You kick Junsu out of bed.) The only issue you hold with this theory is that it means they’re keeping secrets from you. “We haven’t even told them about us yet. Of course they’re keeping it a secret.”

You glance down at Junsu still sitting on the floor, his elbows resting on the bed with his chin propped in his hands. “You honestly think they don’t know about us?” His turn to shrug.

A muffled snort from the doorway alerts you to Yunho’s presence. “Oh, believe me, we know.” He laughs a little as you both stare at him. “Time to get up. We leave in an hour and a half.” Yunho walks away, and you look smugly to Junsu. He just lets you look as he pulls himself off the floor and runs for the bathroom.

When you walk into the kitchen a few moments later, Changmin is sitting half-asleep at the table as Jae attempts to tame the wild bed-head Min has acquired since he started growing his hair. It’s been weeks since the last time you walked in on this, and the nostalgia hits you hard. “Good morning, Chun.” Jae smiles at you. Changmin grunts, his version of the same greeting.

You smile back at them (more at Jae, though, since Min is barely aware you’re in the room), and murmur your own hello’s as you sit across the table. Studying them carefully, you work on gathering any evidence supporting either of your theories. Unfortunately for you, every affectionate gesture they make dates back to shortly after the group started and is therefore of no use to you.

Junsu walks in a few minutes later, fresh from the shower, and Jae pushes Min off to take his turn. As Changmin sleepily stumbles from the room, you and Junsu turn expectantly to Jaejoong. He, much to your consternation, decides to play the I-don’t-notice-you game. “Jae, seriously. What happened?”

“What happened when?” Low growls sound from both you and Su.

“When?! What do you mean ‘when’? The other night, you’re talk with Min!” Junsu is practically bouncing in his chair beside you, the tense energy having no other way to release itself.

Jaejoong stops his movement around the kitchen and smiles, that infuriating I-know-something-you-should-but-don’t smile that takes up residence on his face sometimes. “We talked. I realized we hadn’t really done that in a while. It was nice.”

Your forehead hits the table as Junsu slouches in defeat. Jae simply shrugs and continues the breakfast preparations. When Yunho walks in, he glances from the two of you at the table to Jaejoong standing at the stone then simply shakes his head. “You two are a couple of gossip-hungry fleas.” Matching pouts linger on you faces, but you don’t bother denying the accusations.

Yay!! Hope y'all like it. Next part should be out soon, if all goes as planned. *grins*
