You take your in-group mission very seriously. Every free moment you have you spend watching Min. You’ve even started to observe him when he sleeps, which makes you feel vaguely like a stalker, but you know that sometimes people let things slip in their sleep that they’d never release during waking hours.
Chun did; it’s why the two of you now share a bed.
Three days in, you start wondering how no one else has noticed. Changmin is actually quite blatantly obvious if a person looks at him in the right way. It’s not in his eyes or stolen glances, not in anything he says, and not in any change of mood. In fact, it’s not in anything he does at all. It’s in what he doesn’t.
He doesn’t initiate any kind of quick hugs anymore, doesn’t instigate teasing arguments that used to devolve into tickle fights. He doesn’t stand still long enough for a hand on his shoulder or arm. He doesn’t really touch Jae at all anymore.
Perhaps because he still acts so normal with the rest of you, the other three seem to not notice this surprising new trend. You play with the idea of not telling them, just waiting to see when (or if) any of them figure it out on their own.
Six days later, you let it slip to Chunnie. He brings it up late at night while the two of you are curled around each other, and you’ve never been able to evade his direct questions when he’s holding you like that. “It’s Jae, Mr. Oblivious.” Well, you didn’t say you were nice about it when sharing these things.
He blinks at you for a few moments, probably attempting to align everything he’s observed with this new revelation. You don’t have to wait long for the glint in his eyes that tells you the idea has finally clicked in his mind. “Oh. Well.” He refocuses his gaze on you, and you laugh at him.
The both of you clue Yunho in the next day. He, like Yoochun, takes a bit to process what he knows with what he’s just learned before he nods. “Okay, yeah, I can see that. When did you two figure it out?”
“Last night.”
“A week ago.” Yunho and Yoochun scowl at you. You shrug. Not your fault they don’t notice this stuff. “The question now is: Are we going to tell Jae?”
Yunho shakes his head. “Shouldn’t that really be Changmin’s job?”
“Probably, but if he’s been hiding it this well until now, do you actually believe he’ll ever do it?” Point to Chun. “Obviously, he thinks either Jae will reject him or that it’ll somehow affect the group. No matter what happens, he’s probably decided it has no possibility of turning out well for him.”
Poor Min. We need to figure out a way to make him stop thinking so much. It really can’t be good for him to have all of that running through his head all the time. “So what do we do?”
Raising an eyebrow, Yunho shares a conspiratorial smirk with you and Chun. “Well, we’ll just have to make him see reason, won’t we?”
Operation: Smacking Sense into Min’s Head shall now commence. This could get interesting.
Final A.N.: Yeesh, kinda short, isn't it? Sorry, but Junsu didn't wanna talk anymore. *shrugs* Anyway, there, part 4. Hope it's... at least half decent.
