[Basically continuing from email.] And come to think of it, they fridged fake!Carrie Bishop so Logan could have enough manpain for Veronica to be able to help him out... it's the opposite of interesting. And yes, it was SO VERY distracting that it wasn't Leighton Meester.

Logan was pretty subdued, wasn't he? I missed the crazy hand gestures. But I completely buy the idea that he joined the military. I had never ever thought of that before [and I don't think I've ever read fic where he did it either?], but they sold it. Military order for the dude who had nothing but his entire life, it makes sense to me.

In Neptune, Veronica is fighting the good fight for others, for those she loves; in New York, she's just trying to live a quiet life for herself.

This is a REALLY great point. Especially since the big paycheck in NYC is STOPPING FRIVOLOUS SUITS FOR FORTUNE 500 COMPANIES. If that's not getting in bed with The Man, I don't know what is.

I couldn't tell the difference between fake!Carrie and stalker!Carrie. Really, what was the point of having someone TRY TO LOOK LIKE SOMEONE WE DIDN'T EVEN KNOW?

It makes total sense to me once he's there, but I'm having real trouble seeing Logan coming to the decision to join. Unless it was a reaction to Veronica leaving for Stanford.

Like I said in my last email, the fact that Keith keeps pushing for this life that would be so empty for Veronica makes me think he's still not seeing her for who she is. (Of course, I get the feeling that for the past ten years, she's been trying to live that life and may even have fooled herself into believing it's what she wants).

YEAH, I love Gaby Hoffmann, but did they really need to drag the stalker!Carrie stuff that much? I get there needs to be suspects before the real killer is revealed, but that went way too long.

but I'm having real trouble seeing Logan coming to the decision to join. Unless it was a reaction to Veronica leaving for Stanford.

That might work as a good fanwank, though. If Veronica leaves, then Logan is really completely alone. [And Dick doesn't count], so he joins because military = sense of belonging. Or maybe he got into trouble again and a judge offered him enlisting over jail time? It also works.

(Of course, I get the feeling that for the past ten years, she's been trying to live that life and may even have fooled herself into believing it's what she wants). I think that voice over about her not wanting to disappoint Keith might have been their way of explaining why she spent the last decade hanging on to a "normal" life -- she's doing ( ... )

Had Leighton played Carrie Bishop, the dragging out of that would have made sense, but as it was, it made NO sense.

Or maybe he got into trouble again and a judge offered him enlisting over jail time? It also works.
Ooooh. Two fanwanks theories that work for me. This one may even work better because I (and I don't know why) get the feeling that Logan joined up after college.

it looks dumb because it shows that Keith doesn't really know Veronica at all.
I know that people looooove Veronica and Keith's father/daughter relationship, but I've always maintained that while it is great, there is a huge issue of Keith not wanting Veronica to be who she really is. I think he does know her, he just wishes she was a different person. Not necessarily in a bad way, but because he doesn't want her to have a difficult life.

I feel like I need to re-watch about fifteen times more just to convince myself it actually happened. It was like a whole kaleidoscope of OMG!Sways. But yes, satisfied is a good word.

(I had no time for a re-watch beforehand, so enjoyed the condensed version by revisiting your MFEO post instead. So much goodness!)

Anna! Long time no see!

I feel like I need to rewatch about fifteen more times if I want to get the plot to come together. Heh!

I know that a lot of people were worried about whether V/L would be endgame, but I was always pretty sure they would be (because Rob knows exactly who donated to his Kickstarter and he wants to continue producing stuff in this universe. Any other choices than open-ended or V/L were off the table when you took those variables into consideration), but I worried about if it would be even remotely satisfying. And I gotta say, it was.

MFEO! I looked at it a few months ago and I think a few images had gone missing from LJ's scrapbook. I should really fix that post, it's one of my favorites ever.

I suspect after fifteen re-watchings there may not be much left of the plot. ;)

I thought we would get to a vaguely pro-V/L place, but only in a, his initials on the alarm clock kind of a way. I confess, naval uniform and epic-speech replay over sunrise by the sea was almost overkill for me. (He didn't remember it at the time! I'm intrigued to know when he was brought into the loop.) But the rest satisfied my shippy heart in ways it didn't even know it could be satisfied. It felt right, and very worth waiting for.

Also, Okay, so I always HATED the idea of Veronica in the FBI, and Veronica as a high-powered attorney isn't exactly a step up from that (a prosecutor, maybe), so to see her following a different path, the path she started on, was so immensely satisfying..

This, this, this, this.

Veronica has to be the underdog. If she's not, she's basically just a bully.

Yes! You remind me, where was Back-up?

You are most likely right about that. =)

That was pretty cheesy. I know 'shippers love the epic speech, and I do too, but only because it fit teenage drunk!Logan so well. Adult Logan saying that in all seriousness would be pretty cringeworthy. So my fanwank is that it was something that they discussed during that first semester in college, maybe even made fun of. But now it's almost poignant after all that time apart. That's my story and I'm sticking to it!

You remind me, where was Back-up?
Aw, now you made me sad for the most likely dead Back-up.

Bookmarking this so I can come back to it after I've had a chance to see the movie (doing the LJ equivalent of sticking my fingers in my ears and singing "la la la la la." ;-)
