You were right to give up on Shear Genius. The new host is terrible. And you wouldn't believe who won and with what kind of hairstyles. It was obviously manipulated(more so than usual on these kinds of shows) to keep the weird, controversial contestant around the longest.
I mean, you know when you agree with Jonathan Antin every week that something must be wrong. ;-)
I am looking forward to my other favorite cheesy reality show though - Design Star!
I only watched two or three episodes, but the epic fail was pretty clear from the get-go. It was so obvious that they were rebooting the show à la Top Chef, complete with their own Padma, that I only needed a few episodes to realize that what made the show good in the first place had been completely leached out of it by the changes.
Oooh, Design Star! I enjoyed the second season a lot more than the first, since they'd cut down on those endless judging sessions that took up more than half the episode.
Chuck was a little rocky early in the season but it has thoroughly redeemed itself for me in the last two or three episodes. I won't go on about it though, as just because I enjoy it doesn't mean everyone else will :) To each their own!
I'm about to jump ship on Survivor as well. I was solidly invested in Rob. I had loved him in past seasons but was particularly impressed with his new 'mature' outlook. I think getting married and having a child really affected his outlook in a positive way and it was nice to see him try compromise. Plus, he was an amazing leader for the Villains. He's really wonderful at inspiring and leading a team, whereas Russell only specializes in dividing them. I was crushed when Rob was kicked off and I'll only continue to watch as long as Colby is around. As soon as he's gone (Which I suspect won't be too far in the future) I'm giving up on the show. It's not simply because I find most of the players morally reprehensible, but I think I've seen some of the worst game-playing this season. The majority of

I've seen some spoilers about what happened in the last few episodes, but all I feel when I read them is complete apathy. And I've pretty much always felt that way about the show. What I wanted was intriguing storylines, not the writers playing keep-away with the 'shippers

The one thing that drives me crazy about Chuck is how the shippers have reduced it to little more than a show about Chuck/Sarah. While I do enjoy that aspect of the show in small doses, it is the supporting cast (Casey, Captain Awesome, Lester, etc) that truly makes the show a gem, in my opinion. I think Season 3 has failed in highlighting some of the lesser characters, but thankfully they have started to remedy that in the last couple of episodes. I was disgusted to hear some "fans" declare they would boycott the show until the show began to focus more heavily on Chuck and Sarah again. I love to ship couples as much as the next TV addict, but to reduce the show to nothing more than one love story is ridiculous, and I think some of the Chuck fan-base can really be too much after awhile and tend to take away from my enjoyment of the fandom.
I was burned out on Survivor long before this "Heroes vs. Villains" shtick too, which would explain why the only people I really recognized were the older racers like Rob, Colby, Steph and Tom.

Jumping in: I am not very active in any fandom at this point, but I would be very sad if the Chuck fandom is all about Chuck/Sarah. Any "good" fandom should know that getting the main ship together is the death knell of the show. ;-)
As usual: your thoughts on Buffy are my thoughts on Buffy.
I will say, though, that even though Angel's not a pedophile, that first scene where he's all groady in the car and Buffy's sucking on the lollipop just skeeves me out. They're playing up the Lolita thing there way, way too much.
I think that scene is supposed to be skeevy, I think Joss is more than happy to poke 'shippers and non-'shippers with a stick with that kind of imagery anytime he can get away with it.
huh, surprisingly it enjoyed reading about why you'd ditched all of the shows you have :D
These last few episodes of LotS have been a tad lacklustre but as a whole I encourage watching for Cara because she very probably the best character on any show ever
Community is killing it, I can't get enough and I'm surprised I haven't iconned it yet ://
I've been ditching shows left and right this season. I think it's because I'm in a reading phase right now, so I don't have TIME to watch all this stuff that's piling up. Once I surface from my eReader, though, I'll probably polish off a few seasons from my ditched shows list.
I think I'm only one episode behind on LotS? Maybe two? I really have been keeping up with it pretty well, it's just the last few weeks that I've lapsed.
Community and P&R are the perfect Thursday night Friday morning comedy block - so different, yet so awesome.
I really enjoyed the beginning of s2 Castle, then my interest dropped a bit for several weeks, then they had a really good two-parter a couple of weeks ago, and last week's episode was meh again. I watch for Fillion, though I am starting to love the supporting characters a bit more. I'm thinking it might be a Bones for me - start watching due to male lead, follow with vague interest for awhile and eventually adore. Who knows.
I'm behind on Damages too. I thought s1 was amazing. Finally watched s2 when s3 was coming up, and thought it was dreadful. I'm hoping s3 is an improvement (I've not watched any yet, will marathon) but I'm not optimistic.
I've kind of been eh about the show, but willing to carry on watching for as long as Fillion's charm could hold my attention. A season and a half's worth of charm is nothing to sneeze at, but I just couldn't be bothered to actually care about the show. I did see a lot of posts not too long ago, indicating some sort of flare-up of interest by fandom, which makes me think I'll probably catch up this summer. Don't know if that will translate into watching a possible season 3, though.
I did think season 3 showed more promise than season 2, but the show just works better marathoned. Probably because of those season-long arcs.
