The one thing that drives me crazy about Chuck is how the shippers have reduced it to little more than a show about Chuck/Sarah. While I do enjoy that aspect of the show in small doses, it is the supporting cast (Casey, Captain Awesome, Lester, etc) that truly makes the show a gem, in my opinion. I think Season 3 has failed in highlighting some of the lesser characters, but thankfully they have started to remedy that in the last couple of episodes. I was disgusted to hear some "fans" declare they would boycott the show until the show began to focus more heavily on Chuck and Sarah again. I love to ship couples as much as the next TV addict, but to reduce the show to nothing more than one love story is ridiculous, and I think some of the Chuck fan-base can really be too much after awhile and tend to take away from my enjoyment of the fandom.
I was burned out on Survivor long before this "Heroes vs. Villains" shtick too, which would explain why the only people I really recognized were the older racers like Rob, Colby, Steph and Tom. Most of the time I'm left scratching my head as to where they pulled these other 'major' (And I use that term very loosely) players from. I can't remember the last season I've watched prior to this one but decided to give it a chance given Rob's participation. It was pretty disgusting to see Russell orchestrate Rob's demise in the game, I envy you not having to sit through that episode. If I could go back in time...
I think what I hate about Carol and Brandy isn't their pathetic feud with Catie and Brent, but their overall negativity and bickering. It seems they can't go more than one or two legs without jumping down the other's throat, and when compared with the Cowboys and Cops, who are relatively positive and a joy to watch whether they're succeeding or failing at any given activity, I just find Carol and Brandy hard to take. They constantly boast to be 'great' racers, but they continually make bad choices in regards to challenges and other aspects of the race. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we'll be seeing the last of them very soon!
Jumping in: I am not very active in any fandom at this point, but I would be very sad if the Chuck fandom is all about Chuck/Sarah. Any "good" fandom should know that getting the main ship together is the death knell of the show. ;-)
