  • Both my sites are inaccessible right now because of a "power outtage". And you know that extra disc space? Gone. I knew it was too good to be true.
  • Ever go to someone's icon page and think that each individual icon has some merit, but together they just look like ass? Like the user has terrible taste? Because that just happened to me.

I've been considering moving all my icons to my Scrapbook, but I'm kind of afraid of the massive post-editing work I'd have to do after that. Ugh.

And did you find those Popular caps? I got links on this thread. Still, cap_it needs tags like we need oxygen. I've pretty much given up looking for stuff there.

I haven't moved all my icons, I just started uploading them there. I love the fact that you can move the images after linking them and the links still work. You wouldn't believe how many different albums I've had them in. Right now I've got them divided into fandoms, but when that gets too unwieldly I can just move them around at will! Just ignore the assy layout, I got bored in the middle of playing around. *g*

And did you find those Popular caps?
Yes, but they're the same as the ones in that thread. I think there's a complete gallery of Popular caps somewhere, but they're a) avi caps, and b) the wrong aspect ratio (I think), so they're pretty useless.

I don't think my OCD would let me have my icons in two different places. Heh. But yeah, I've got my header and my moodtheme and everything lj-related on my Scrapbook, I should have my icons there too.

Maybe I'll upload everything, which is the easy part, and then I'll worry about editing the posts. :)

I've got icons all over the place. If I ever do transfer them all to Scrapbook it would probably far from all anyway, because I can see keeping old (read: crappy) ones where they are, but to actually upload them again? Yeah, not happening.

The editing is not something I'd look forward to either, because I would have to get them all in the right order and that sounds like it would be both horrible and complicated.

The one thing that's really bugging me about my sites being down is that my css code for LJ isn't working, so my journal is a mess! And for some reason, putting it up on my working site isn't helping. So my flist is practically unreadable, and anyone coming to my journal is going to find it horrible!

*butts in*

That's why I've put my CSS code right there in my custom layer -- it avoids surprises like this. The code is fairly simple:

function print_stylesheet() {
"""

[stylesheet goes here]

""";
}

Thanks for butting in! I was thinking about doing that, now that's that little text area for it, but I didn't know the code! I've actually managed a temporary fix, but this is a much better idea.

Anytime. I figured out awhile ago that anything LJ related should stay inside LJ. So my layout images and moodtheme are on my Scrapbook, and all my coding is on the custom layer. That way stuff will only ever be down if LJ is down. :)

I always wonder why more iconmakers don't upload their icons to their Scrapbook album, like I've started doing.

The reason I dislike uploading my icons into Scrapbook is that I can't specify the name of it. So, if I wanted to make sure that lea724 was in every icon's filename, Scrapbook won't let me.

And as a completely OT note, I love how every icon of every person who's commented so far is Veroncia Mars. =D

With all of the news about CA and the power shortages, I should stop being surprised about now.

Scrapbook: I don't like not having the file names. Plus, I have my htaccess set up just how I like it, and my icon page at my personal site (down right now of course) has a script that just reads a directory and dumps them all to the page and puts the code in a textarea so I can quickly copy/paste when posting. ;-)

I meant to add a link for the news, duh.

I have the RSS feed bookmarked, so I immediately checked.

I don't care about the file name, and I actually think that the way you can move the images between albums without breaking the links allows for much more versatility. Plus, I get annoyed by the failed referrer reports, and I like that hotlinkers are pretty much completely foiled by LJ's system.

No, but I've noticed mine tend to go for a sort of weird pastel effect when put all together.

Heh, "pastel" is about as far from what I think of when I think of you as can be. Trust me, this is a good thing.

It's an interesting thought, though, viewing them all as a compositional group.
