I never got to follow GG after the 5th season, and, well, even then the show was kind of starting to get to a pretty off tangent. I'm not even sorry I stopped following the show. Its never going to be as good as the earlier seasons, I think?

I used to love Popular though, especially the first season. Best kind of crack out there -- back then anyway. ^^

I think you made a wise choice. I guess it's possible the characters will be redeemed in season 7, but Rory was only a shell of her former self even before season 5 started, and season 6 took care of the rest.

Popular is cheesy fun for the whole family! And Mary Cherry may just be the most perfect character in all of creation.

I agree with you on the whole Lorelai-character-assasination thing. It really broke my GG-heart. And the season finale left me with a bitter taste in my mouth, and a uncomfortable feeling in my stomach. But the fact still remains, I LOVE GG, with all my heart and I will never give up on that show. After reading Ausiellos comments on the first script I'm feeling a bit more relaxed. Maybe Rosenthal will save the show? Anyway, I will watch it, no matter what.

I read the comments on the first script and even though it seems better than what it looks like, I'm still not very hopeful. They would have to work really hard to get me back to a place where I can tolerate most of the characters at all, and 13 episodes of Christopher doesn't sound like the ticket to redeeming them. I think I'll start off reading post-episode posts and take it from there.

I'm going to watch the 7th of GG, because I really want to know what happens next. But..
Lorelai and Christopher apparently getting together
I don't want that!! O.o Where did you get that from? Oh my god, that'd suck big time.

spoilerfix.com has some spoilers, but nothing big.

I've never seen anyone say so outright, other than fellow fans, but considering where we left off, Christopher signed on for 13 episodes, the assertion that Lorelai actually went to Christopher after "making a decision about where she wanted her life to go" and them making an effort to tell us that Christopher is grown up now all point to C/L, but this exchange is what made me think it will happen:

Now, playing devil's advocate, Lorelai getting back with Christopher has been Luke's greatest nightmare since he started dating her.

"You know what they say: you manifest in your life what you most fear."
So make of it what you will, nothing is confirmed, but all the tidbits point to it, in my opinion. And with the way things ended it seems like unless they actually settle Christopher/Lorelai, it will always be hanging over any relationship Luke and Lorelai have anyway. My biggest problem isn't so much C/L, it's what they're choosing to spend their last season's storylines on. At least I'm assuming it will be the last season because I can' ( ... )

I wouldn't mind C/L so much myself, but yeah you're right. I'm pretty sure that it is the last season and then bringing Lorelai back together with Christopher, but in the end she's reunited with Luke anyway, is just... dumb. I don't want that. :(

And it really seems like C/L, now where I read what you wrote/quoted. Dammit.

What puzzles me the most about how the show is turning out now is the complete change in the characters.
In my creative writing class (which I took coz I thought it would be fun be fore changing my major subject) we were warned over and over to set the characters and their bahviour from page one and never change it throughout our writing.
So being confronted by those last season's made me wonder what they are planning. Is this like a : in the last episode lorelai will wake up in her bed all sweaty and angsty coz she had a nightmare before her first date with luke plotline?

What has gotten into the writers? Are they hiring aspiring drama writers aged 16 now? Even if they twist the plotline to L/L again its not gonna be convincing anymore. Its stopped being that when rory had her first pot plotline and climaxed with the whole April thing.

We should've known then that the writers go bonkers I guess...

[sorry for the long post]

I'll definitely be watching and since I can't stand Lorelai and Luke as a romantic couple I'm all for anything that keeps them apart. LG and SP always seem so uncomfortable in intimate scenes together that it makes me tense to watch them. She has a much better energy in scenes with David Sutcliffe. Even if "L/L are the endgame" which I keep seeing everywhere, I'm hoping that Rina Mimoum steals a page from her Everwood finale and doesn't reunite them until the very end.
