In just a few hours, my brother is going to be a dad. I can't wait to be an aunt.  It is going to be a lot of fun.

Bilbo had to have his molars on one side all pulled.  I don't know what happened at the shelter but the teeth on one side were all in bad shape.  However, he's already eating fine, and we got him to take his medicine okay.  Tt did cost quite a lot, though, so I'm kind of miffed the shelter downplayed it (his medical form said "mild gingivitis.").   ( Read more... )

Just a thought.  It's a little weird to realize my cat was born the same year I graduated from high school.  We had a bit of a journey before we met each other.

Matt and I adopted a cat from a shelter.  He's six years old and is a smallish orange tabby.  We decided to call him "Bilbo" mostly because he runs and hides every time he hears a strange noise.  He's very well behaved - cuddly when he wants to be but mostly keeps to himself.

Wow.  The wedding really couldn't have gone better.  It all went by so fast, but now I'm married to Matt!

I just watched the 2011 adaptation of Jane Eyre and was mostly impressed.  The filmmakers didn't steer away with how dark and dysfunctional the relationship is, the disproportionate power, how much older Rochester is than Jane, just how messed up that scene is where he basically threatens her, and my favorite, that whole nasty bit with her cousins ( Read more... )

I saw the Hunger Games again.  Still cried like a little girl.

The Hunger Games was really well done.  Especially certain scenes.
