“Here, take this it’s my cell number,” Bam said as he pulled a green sharpie out of his pants pocket and grabbed Ville’s hand, quickly scribbling down the seven digit number on his palm. “Just give me a call and we’ll hang out and get to know each other better.”

“I’d like that,” The Finn said sincerely.

“Maybe we could go to the beach or something, because, well no offense but you’re about as white as paper,” Bam said as he poked Ville’s white hand.

Ville frowned as he looked at his hand, it was never really a problem in Finland that he was so pale, maybe it was because it was so cold all the time and no one went outside with more than two layers of clothes on most of the year.

I want to live where soul meets body,
And let the sun wrap its arms around me,
And bathe my skin in water cool and cleansing,
And feel, feel what it's like to be new,

Bam gasped, drawing Ville’s attention back to him “Dude you’re not one of those vampires are you?”

Ville blinked in shock “Um, no I’m not a vampire.”

“Oh ok,” Bam said “I mean it’d be, like, so cool if you were though. I think you’d make a good vampire though, much better than Tom Cruise in that Interview with a Vampire movie, he wasn’t convincing at all.”

“Um, thanks…I guess,” Ville said an amused look on his face. He had never met someone so energized as Bam; the other teen always seemed to be moving in one way or another. Maybe that had something to do with the insatiable need to go someplace new all the time. He, himself had always dreamt of going to different places in the world and visiting all the terrific things the country had to offer him. But it was just a dream he had, and other than going to San Diego he had never been out of Finland.

'Cause in my head there's a Greyhound station,
Where I send my thoughts to far-off destinations.
So they may have a chance of finding a place where,
They're far more suited than here.

Ville looked down at the number on his hand and smiled weakly, the weirdness of the whole situation was sinking in. He had never met someone like Bam before, especially on an airplane.

“This is so strange,” Ville mumbled.

Bam cocked his head to the side in confusion. “What’s strange?”

“This whole situation, it’s not really a normal occurrence that someone sits by you on a plane and asks you if you want to travel across the States with them. Also I don’t know anything about you, for all I know you could be some murderer or something,” Ville said.

Bam nodded his head sadly “Yea, I guess you’re right…I’m sorry if I freaked you out or anything.”

I cannot guess what we'll discover,
When we turn the dirt with our palms cupped like shovels,
But I know our filthy hands can wash one another's,
And not one speck will remain

“No you didn’t freak me out, it’s just weird is all.”

Bam was silent for a moment, silently working out what to say to the Finn to explain himself. “It’s not that weird, people meet each other all the time, why does it matter if it happens to be on an airplane? If I’d have met you on the street and gotten into a conversation I would have asked to come with me all the same.”

“I guess I just wasn’t expecting you that’s all,” Ville said, hoping the other teen understood.

The teen chuckled softly, his laughter like butterflies floating lazily above their heads, every now and again affectionately stroking Ville across his cheek with their invisible wings.

And I do believe it's true that there are roads left in both of our shoes, But if the silence takes you then I hope it takes me too.
So brown eyes I hold you near, 'cause you're the only song I want to hear
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere.

“And who am I?” Bam asked as he managed to control his giggles.

Where soul meets body.
Where soul meets body.
Where soul meets body.

Ville smiled slightly and looked Bam over carefully, trying to come up with an answer. “I don’t know,” the Finn whispered. Bam couldn’t contain his grin as he began to tug lightly on one of his purple curls.

And I do believe it's true that there are roads left in both of our shoes, But if the silence takes you then I hope it takes me too.
So brown eyes I hold you near, 'cause you're the only song I want to hear

Ville looked down at the green number on his hand and saw the ink began to spider out in the tiny crevices in his skin. Each tiny drop of ink was going its own separate way on the many roads within his pale skin. Now it was his turn to go down his own road, and as he looked up at the blue eyed boy in front of him, he knew that Bam would be the one to start him on his way.

“What’s your name?” Ville asked softly and Bam just laughed.

A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere.
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere.
A melody softly soaring through my atmosphere.
