Exactly! It's MY LJ. I use it as a tool. It does not use me. WE ARE NOT FACEBOOK, we do NO need constant entertainment.

I didn't mind the Spotlight thing. "3 Things we have" that changes weekly, that's FINE. Plus it wasn't as clutted. I can't deal with all that clutter 1st thing in a morning.

I'm also on the "Who looks at the home page anyway?" camp - although this makes me forget birthdays.

However, there is an alternative - "My LJ", where you can customize the content.

And of course, grumble not only to us, but also to the guys at LJ.

I use https://www.livejournal.com/login.bml to log in. After that you can get straight to your friends page :)

This, as skeptic pointed out, will also make you miss birthdays and other stuff shown on the homepage and portal.
