Grilled Cheese

Apr 23, 2008 21:13

I was just thinking of Jack&Juliet (there's two particular promo shots x&x for 4x10 that have me absolutely flailing :DDD) and naturally my mind filled with thoughts of Cheeseburgers and Grilled Cheese sandwiches. I wanna ask, anyone who reads this, how do you cook your grilled cheese? Coz the American way seems really weird to me - putting bread ( Read more... )

We have such intellectual conversations on LJ hehe!
I never fry my grilled cheese because my bf is a health nut and would just give me a lecture so I put it in the oven, under the broiler. Tastes just as good and alot less greasy.
I'm not a fan of mac and cheese (weird I know)
As for hot chocolate I use cocoa powder, milk and honey

Very intellectual ones :P

Mmhmm I thought those pan fried ones would be really greasy. I guess it's a good thing in the long run your man is health-friendly, but yeah I can see you having to fight the urge to indulge often. I know I would (A).

Hehe, thanks for replying.

Grilled Cheese: Two pieces of bread, butter the sides that will be on the outside, put cheese in the middle along with whatever other ingrediants you desire such as bacon, tomato, ham ect. put pieces of bread together, butter side out. Place sandwich on grill. When one side is brown: flip. Leave until cheese is melted!

I don't know how much that varies from what you do, but that's my grilled cheese here in Canada.

For Mac and Cheese-- if it's K-D then no extra/real cheese if it isn't then yes to the real cheese as well as things like bacon, tomato ect.

We do it about the same as you, but it's with the one slice. If we add tomato and bacon etc we call it a Doorstop.

So two slices and butter the outside, got it.

Cheers for the response :P

We do grilled cheese like this:

Butter bread, put cheese slice in middle. Butter side of bread is on the outside and then that goes into low-heat frying pan. When both sides are brown and cheese is melted, you're done!

Mac and cheese comes from a box...lol.

My mom does her hot chocolate the 'real' way with grated chocolate and milk but I use powdered stuff. Because I'm lazy. ~g~

My experience is Mac&Cheese coming from a box too xD.

I think I'll be trying that pan-frying tomorrow, if I'm in a cheesy mood of course.

Hehe, "Pandora's Mum, uh, Mom! I want some Hot Chocolate, please."

*g*

I hate to cook, but I can do a good grilled cheese. Come one over and I'll make you one. Gotta do one for the Coconut, too. ~g~

Ha! I actually found a recipe for grilled cheese just because I wanted it to be good. Very similar to what I've already seen here, but here goes. Lightly butter outsides of bread, put cheese in middle (of course I use American cheese). Put in medium heat nonstick frying pan for about a minute, press down with spatula occasionally, then flip for another minute. The recipe said to cover it with a pot lid, but we got rid of those pans and only have flat lids now, so I don't do that anymore. Yum! I like to dip mine in ketchup too ( ... )

Mmm that roux sauce and grated cheese sounds really good. Maybe I can get my Ma to try that sometime :)

Yesh, hot chocolate with milk tastes better. Although the Cadbury instant one isn't too bad with just hot water. I need to go to Europe someday - for many things, not just the Hot Chocolate o'course.

I'll see if I can find that recipe online to send to you...that site is kinda weird because even though I have a subscription to the magazine, you can't access all the recipes online unless you have a PAID online membership to the website >:( I may have it saved somewhere though...I'll look and let you know. It's delicious!
