Grilled Cheese

I was just thinking of Jack&Juliet (there's two particular promo shots x&x for 4x10 that have me absolutely flailing :DDD) and naturally my mind filled with thoughts of Cheeseburgers and Grilled Cheese sandwiches. I wanna ask, anyone who reads this, how do you cook your grilled cheese? Coz the American way seems really weird to me - putting bread in a frying pan? O_o In AUS we put cheese on bread and then actually put it under the griller :P Does it really make much of a difference in taste? (okay so the pan fry one is two slices, and our grilled ones is just the one, unless we use a sandwich press) Do you use lots of oil or butter? I have no idea. Would you advise me to attempt this? (I may have sort of set some pita bread on fire the other day *whistles*) How would I attempt this? Come on, answer me, I'm asking the hard questions lol.

What about your Mac&Cheese? I was watching a movie and I saw a woman put actual slices of cheese in with pasta. How about Hot Chocolate? Is it real melted chocolate? Of course it's real but what I meant to ask was do you often take the time to melt the chocolate or do you use powdered stuff too? Coz right now I'm drinking powdered Cadbury stuff and I feel like I'm missing out.

Please enlighten me by answering these most silly questions.
