Ooh, this really reminds me of Jay's description of what it was like to fall out of a tree onto a metal spike, which I guess is similar to being stabbed, except in the leg. He said it just sort of itched, and then he realised he could see the bone in his leg. That's TMI, isn't it?

No, I don't think it did. But he sort of freaked at that point and suggested his friend called an ambulance...! It hurt later, when he was in hospital.
Yeah, if I could see my own bone, I think I'd suggest ambulance was a good idea too! And hope it got there with painkillers BEFORE the pain kicked in ...
That's really good - you really made me believe in what he was feeling. And the line about 'things that ought to be good...' is sad in a subtle way, for me anyway ^^
