I've seen The Forbidden Kingdom, and somehow didn't think it was that good. But that's just me - I guess I've been spoilt by seeing movies the quality of Lord of the Rings all the time. There were some pretty darned brilliant moments in Forbidden Kingdom though...

See, I liked it because I LOVE Jackie Chan and Jet Li movies. And I thought this one was going to be all serious and dramatic, but instead it was pretty whimsical and amusing. There were just so many clever moments, and I loved the look of the film. Besides, when am I ever going to see Jet Li dressed as a monkey shaking his ass at someone ever again?

That movie was based very loosely on the epic Chinese novel Journey to the West. I've actually read the original.

Yeah, apparently Jet Li came out of kung-fu movie retirement because he'd always wanted to play the Monkey King, and finally saw a chance to do it justice.
