Today I washed dishes.

Ascending the stairs, having come home from work, Jenni called out, "So have you gone out this week for anything other than food?" My response, grumpy and defensive: "NO."

Two things: I love you, and love these posts. I know I don't comment very often, but know that I do read all of them and enjoy them a lot.

You're moving to Auckland, away from fabulous Wellington? What's your plan? Big talk soon please.

Also, and thirdly, where are my drawings for Brunhilda?

Basically, at the end of October the semester will be over and so will our lease on this flat. I personally want to stay in Wellington forever and ever, but most of my friends are abandoning ship and, to stay here, I'd need to a) find a place to live with people I really like and want to live with and b) find a good full-time job so I can both afford to live here and also save up quite a bit of money. The four of us - me, Sas, Jenni and Elri - had A Plan to move somewhere cheap like Napier or Hastings, get jobs and save up a truckload of money each so that we could go on a round-the-world tour. We still want to do that last part, but Elri's gone to Australia and the job market is barely better up North than it is here. So, basically, the easiest thing for me to do is move in with the parents for at least a couple of months and then see how finding a job goes. We're all going to have to sort this out when Sas comes down for Jenni's birthday, anyway ( ... )

Hey my darling,

Don't worry - I know you're finishing uni and it's all scary monster biscuits. Take your time. I LOVE your new piece, it's beautiful. I'll send you Brunhilda again if you have mislaid the old copy, and in the meantime I'll send you a new story, just to get your opinion on it. I'm thinking of maybe making a series, if you'd be interested in taking an extended illustration gig? We'll have to see if it's any good though.

I'm a bit dubious about you moving to Auckland because I'm worried about you getting stuck and suffering from inertia and being driven mad and losing lovely Wellington into the bargain. But you seem to have a good plan and so long as you're focussed I have faith that you'll end up where you want to be.

All will be well lovely. xx

Oh good! I'm glad you're not angry about me taking so long. Yes, I would love a new copy of Brunhilda, as my version was lost in the Great Crash. And I would love to see the new story! The more I have to draw, the more inspired I'm actually likely to be. Sas just commissioned some t-shirt designs from me, and I'm doing a short werewolf comic as a collaboration with Russ on a scriptwriting assignment.

The move to Auckland will probably only be until Christmas, or whenever I can get a job in Napier. It's basically so the parents don't have to fork out for me while I try to find a job. Plus, it means I will be able to help them decorate, and even use my easel for the first time in years. Damn, I miss that thing.

Yes, yes we were. And hey, when are you getting back? Just so I know when I should have the wolf-face options done by.

Right?! It is enormous fun, and I probably should have mentioned in the post that I love Hit Girl with the power of a thousand burning suns.

She's a brilliant-yet-somewhat-disturbing character. Love!
