Sweet Valley Kids #63, Lila's Christmas Angel

Nov 29, 2007 14:26

I picked this book up yesterday at this great bookstore near my work that sells old-school YA and kids books for just 20-30 cents. Some days they have a better selection than others. Yesterday I found a whole ton of BSC books ... not so much in the way of Sweet Valley. But I did manage to grab a SVU book, plus this one.
Anyway I haven't read very ( Read more... )

Whoops, your LJ-cut didn't work :(

Serena sadly admits that she can't fly, because she doesn't yet have her wings. Lila accepts this, but she insists that Serena grant her three wishes.

That's our girl!

I don't know what's the deal with that "lj cut" (the previous poster had trouble with it, too) but it looks like I fixed it. :-)

You don't have to use HTML you can do it straight from the editor....

Now I don't know about that, as the HTML (if you mean bolding, italics, etc.) looks fine on mine?

I hate to say it, but Liz's guardian angel story (in SVT) is much cooler. It's hilariously depressing!

Mind you, this has awesome Jessica-Lila friendship bonding, so maybe it's a tie.

Maybe, but in general I definitely prefer SVT to Sweet Valley Kids. I've only read three or four SVK books...they're okay, but 7-year-old Liz and Jess don't quite measure up their older selves!

No, I agree. The SVT one is a lot better than this sounds, even though Liz's guardian angel (is it Laura) is a complete nutcase lol!

Y'know, the sad thing is that you can imagine the SVHites having the same emotions (Lila is ashamed that her mother ran away! omg don't tell anyone they'll make fun of her!) as the (more age appropriate) SVK reaction.

Aw, I love it when Jessica is actually a good friend and not just her usual sociopath self. Poor Lila though! It seems like there have been a ridiculous amount of Lila-and-George Lifetime moments when he promises to be a better father and Lila, heartbreakingly, believes it - you'd think one or the other would wisen up after so many years (and so many separate book series!) of it.
