Where? Radiant Garden
When? AU in which Sora never merged with Roxas. (Takes place after the adventure funtiems and possession logs).
Warnings? lots of what ifs, could haves, should haves. Lots of goodbyes, promises and blind faith. Sora comes home post-possession with no intention of staying. sad

[All day there has been this sense of...disquiet, in Roxas

[When the door opens and Roxas is there to greet him, it all seems to fall into place. Everything suddenly becomes easy. It's easy to pat Roxas on the shoulder as he steps inside, easy to grin at his other and answer back. It's easy to pretend like nothing is wrong, and to just bask in the sense of completion that comes with being so close to his other. It feels... like it's been a really long time.]

Good to be back.

[He blinks, glancing around the room. Merlin is notorious for keeping a messy and disorganized livingspace, but seeing it tidied up and abnormally clean takes Sora by surprise.]

Woa... what happened in here?

[Seeing Sora so bright and happy, it relaxes him. Momentarily, he just basks in the feeling of being with him, until Sora questions the tidiness of the space they frequent so often and it all comes crashing down, a slap in the face reminder by his own actions.]

I cleaned. I needed to do something, I guess. I just-

[He stops, trying to think of what to say. For a moment, just a moment, he looks completely lost, then he sighs and steps closer, placing a hand on Sora's face so he can't look away from him. Not now, when he wants him to be honest.]

What happened today?

[Sora just blinks, almost leaning away in surprise. He looks everywhere but at Roxas, but as he approaches it's hard to look anywhere else but him. His mind scrambles for an answer, which is probably more telling than if he'd said anything with words.]
