And the one who had been waiting is probably the last person Sora wants to see. But Sora is right in one respect: he needs the boy. As much as he would hate to admit that truth, it still exists. He's growing weak again. It's only a matter of time before he's just a shriveled shadow in a cloak once more. Thankfully, so long ago... He had managed to wedge himself firmly into a place that kept him going for this long with any hope that he might still recover.

So, when Sora stands there in the false Islands--a place he'd constructed just for this boy, so a present of sorts--he decides it's finally time to come out. The exit to this room has been cleverly hidden, so there's no escape. Not yet, anyway. He doesn't plan on letting Sora leave here still in control of that body of his. So, in a twisting mass of darkness Ansem reveals himself. Floating off the ground, confident in looks with arms crossed over his chest.

"So, Sora. You have finally heeded my call."

Sora knows that noise, that soft whisper of dark winds. It's the sound if heartless appearing, the sound of darkness manifesting. It adds a thickness, a heaviness to the atmosphere, an indication that whatever's shown up is pretty powerful. It immediately sets him on edge. But when he raises his eyes to see an enemy he thought he'd defeated long ago, he's completely floored.

"You...!?" This isn't possible. He watched Ansem fade! He Donald and Goofy made sure he was gone. Ansem should've been nothing more than a memory by now. Could this be some sort of mirage? Some residual image of their fight? Maybe this is part of his memory?

Whatever it is, he doesn't like it. Particularly the words it speaks to him. It just rubs Sora the wrong way, puts him off in a way he can't quite describe. Sora didn't come here to help Ansem. If he'd known Xehanort's heartless was waiting for him he would have reconsidered coming alone.

"Who says I came here for you? You shouldn't even be here right now!"

The boy is on edge? How quaint. He'd expect nothing less of him, and perhaps that is the greatest reason why he has decided to make the boy his new vessel. Such a strong heart would be able to withstand much of the darkness. So, when Sora reacts in this way, his usual smirk tugs across his face. The element of surprise, and thus the advantage, belongs to him ( ... )

And Sora shakes his head, not liking the implications of that. No. There has to be a different reason why Sora was drawn here. Ansem... and the fake islands- they both aren't supposed to exist. They could both easily be physical manifestations of his memory, just like the way he saw the other worlds on his way over. This is no different. This is really all just a trick of the world.

He's careful not to keep his eyes off Ansem too long- even if he's just a memory, there's a chance he's still dangerous. He glances around the world, searching for some way out of the illusion.

He scoffs at the offer, quick to deny it. He knows what the darkness does to those who accept. He's seen it bring ruin to countless worlds, seen it destroy lives over and over again. Just look what it did to Riku. What makes Ansem think he'd even consider it?

"Yeah, like I'd ever take anything from you."
