Billy Hugged himself tighter, letting his gloved hands absorb the warmth from his body. If there was one thing he hated about winters in Madtown, was there was absolutely no heat unless you lit a fire, which was suicide here. Not that Billy couldn't fend for himself ( ... )

Eyeing the stranger who'd approached her, Adie slipped her hands behind her back, willing the first layer to shed and reveal the element beneath. Clenching cold, steel fingers, she watched as he sat down, greeting her with a easy smile, out of place in the desolate surroundings.

"I'm sorry," she croaked, voice harsh with disuse. "I'm not sure I know you."

Nice to see the ingrained politeness hadn't yet faded.

Billy smiled again at the woman. "We never really did have the chance to tlak," he admitted. He frowned a bit when her thread vibrated and tugged at the laws of reality. She was using her powers. He brushed it off and conitnued on. "We only met once, anyway. It was a car wreck, if I recall correctly."

He cracked his neck and reached a hand into his jacket, pulling out a piece of bread. A friend of his here still made it from scratch. She gave him these as thanks for keeping her location undetectable from the government. "Hungry?" he asked her.

Staring at him a long moment, she reached out and snatched the piece of bread without a word, tearing off a piece and stuffing the rest in her pocket. She remembered now. How could she forget that day? It was imprinted in her mind as surely the ink she'd left under so many skins.

Adie ripped a piece of the bread off with her teeth, chewing quickly and swallowing hard, never taking her eyes from him.

"I see you're still playing good samaritan."

Billy smiled sheepishly. "What can I say? Someone has to care. It's rare to find that nowadays, especially in here."
