The sky was almost gray, she decided. It wasn't quite that color, naturally; she was wearing sunglasses, but still. It didn't look natural. Puff of smoke after puff of smoke rose from the streets. It was too cold for steam and too warm for fog, but still she saw it rise, dispersing slowly until every face around her was ghostly reminder of their former selves. But New York was far from a ghost town, she knew that. As if to prove it, a particular, familiar face exited the glass building across the street, staring directly at her.
Time to stop fooling around, she thought, but didn't bother to move from her spot. It was a nice view.
Another puff of smoke rose, this time from her cigarette, making his face looks like an apparition before it solidified.
"One of us is late," she mentioned casually. There was no time keeping these days. All it matter was to get the job done. Whenever that was.
