A morning stroll with my fluffy dog was a little funny today.
The morning was really warm. I took my dog out for a walk around this hilly area as usual. My new book "Korean Grammar In Use"
As mentioned in my last LJ update, I needed a better textbook to learn Korean, so I bought this one, which is on the left in photo 1. Next to it is my old one. In Taiwan we write "the Korean language" as 韓語(pronunciation: HAN YU) and in China they write 韩(国)语 (It seems that I still remember Pin Yin pretty well, haha). I'm confused
Translations for both 1. and 2. are "What are you studying?" and "I'm studying Korean." Both sound quite POLITE to me, but what is the difference?
1.
A: 무슨 공부하십니까?
B: 한국어 공부하고 있습니다.
2.
A. 무엇을 공부합니까?
B. 한국어를 공부합니다.
What is interesting is that when they are translated into Chinese, there is a nuance, hard to be explained in English. Anyway, I will ( Read more... )
