Oh, honey, I am so sorry. I completely understand why this is a betrayal, and why it's hurtful that L is defending your mother (it's probably very important to her to have this idealized picture of your mother, because then she can deny being abused/neglected, which may be vital to her current self-concept) . . . even so, she's denying the TRUTH, which denies your lived experience.

Love you, sweetheart, and I'm so sorry that you were parented so poorly and made to feel unwanted and unloved by the person who is supposed to always have your back :/

Thanks. And that is part of the worst bit, really: she acts like she was an awesome parent and never did anything wrong. Especially the last several years, she has suddenly decided that she wants a relationship with me. But she doesn't ever admit any fault or apologize, she just keeps lying and tries to make awkward and offensive overtures that she thinks are friendly.
