Tonight my mom called. I thought she was calling to find out when I would be at the hospital, but in fact she called me to tell me not to come. She said that J was being discharged tomorrow. She is very upset about the discharge- she thinks it's too soon, and so do I

argh! I just had to read back several posts. Recovering from the very taxing CICU turmoil in my own family has left me miles behind in reading my friends page for nearly two full weeks now. I totally feel your exhaustion. I am putting J on my list. Yes, I agree with you -- I think he should definitely have at least a day or three in a Step-Down unit for more observation and OT before being cut loose.

You have been handling all this so well. I'm so impressed with how you're dealing with your mom though I know it's been difficult.

If you and your mom put up a fight you can probably get them to move your brother to a regular bed unless they are having a crisis. My mom fought like a wildcat to be not discharged too early for her carotidectomy and mastectomies -- it worked. He's a boy with a brain injury. He needs at least another day or two or three. Good luck.
