Over the past week or so, I've really gotten into a French-Japanese cartoon, Time Jam: Valerian and Laureline.   It's loosely based on Peter Christin and Jean Claude Mezieres' long running series of Valerian comics but from what I've been able to find out, while the characters are recognizably the same the story is very different.

Mirage/Peter Laird sold the Ninja Turtles to Nickelodeon (or, more broadly, Viacom).  I don't know what to think, aside from figuring that with the press release from Nick calling it a great comedic property with added layers of action and fantasy, they're not going to produce anything nearly as good as the 2003-7 series.  And that this is going to ( Read more... )

So apparently the long-talked about Spaceballs cartoon actually happened when I wasn't looking.  And it's on hulu.  And if the first episode is representative of the whole, it's crap.

      Well, that was a wee bit of a letdown.  Not an awful show by any stretch, but I don't feel like they captured the Atom's personality nearly as well as the Blue Beetles'.  (And how come Jaime got HIS non-powered sidekick, but Panda Potter was nowhere to be seen?)  The ep was funny and the completely loco cartoon Aquaman has grown on me, but I ( Read more... )
