Update...and a warning

Feb 12, 2009 18:30

The test went at least as badly as I'd expected, despite a bit of last-minute cramming...at one point there were seven terms I had to define, and I could not recall having heard of ANY of them. :(

I spoke briefly with my mother today, and she said there was some kind of better news on the job front. Hopefully she's right...

The room is wonderfully clean! I now have ~70 square feet of completely un-junked, vacuumed floor to dance around on! I've actually opened up my dorm window for the first time in God knows how long because it's no longer embarrassing to do so! I'm now going through about a full semester's worth of wash, which I'll hopefully have room for once it's clean...I also discovered I have about $55 in change, which I'll be bringing to the bank posthaste.

WARNING: I fell victim to a minor scam, and I have a feeling that FurryStyle was responsible (I don't know this for certain, but the only other ways my card info could have been compromised was my purchase from Sakura, other purchases from trusted companies or through trusted payment methods (Amazon, Google checkout, etc.), or from someone intruding on my wireless while I checked my bank account, which I also found unlikely. Basically, someone called me repeatedly and when I answered, they told me I'd been selected for some promotion, $40 in free gas vouchers even if I wasn't interested, and just $1 to start out. I did NOT give them my debit card info, and they told me that they did not have it. But surprise! A few days later I started getting mysterious debits from my checking account. I was not thrilled with this at all, especially as I could've been overdrafted due to just having paid some of my tuition money. My bank said they couldn't do anything until the transaction was completed. So I called up the company (budget savers) and told them to take me the fuck off their program and refund my money. They said they would, and that I should be credited in 3-5 business days. We'll see what happens...but in any case, I'll be switching to a new card.

So basically: I'm never buying from FurryStyle again, and I highly recommend you do the same. If it's not actually their fault, then I offer my sincere apologies to them, but the odds are good that it is.

I'm SO freaking glad it's the weekend...
