am finally in France! had to spend $200 extra to get here (i will post about that once, and angrily) but i s'pose it's worth it. Dave's house is absolutely amazing. totally gorgeous, and very modern. and kids - it's actually warm here! so nice. we slept in till 1ish, both jet-lagged, haha. going out to explore the town in a bit. just wanted to say

after Chris's History seminar, and a quick breakfast of bacon and eggs and tomatoes, we took off for Newcastle. surprisingly, the city is only an hour away by train. we thought it was much longer. drove through Darlington and Durham, and were treated to a view of the relatively huge (nothing beats the Minster) Durham Cathedral.

our kitchen is shared between approximately 16 people. about 7 of those people actually clean their dishes. for some un-fucking-known reason, certain students find it impossible to:
1) take your dishes to the sink
2) wash your dinner dishes, and
3) the dishes used to prepare your meal
4) dry all the aforementioned items
