I made it through the week, fraying nerves and all - J's coming home tomorrow. With school and other activities to keep the kids (plus me) busy, the week went by fairly quickly. J has been working late for much of this week and the last so I'm usually the one holding the fort with the children for twelve hours straight. Even if some days all I do is stay at home, I still have what we term the 'morning rush' and the 'evening rush' and there's a lot of multi-tasking and juggling to keep everyone on track. I know it's such a cliche, but I can't believe my little baby is one! And I also know that in a blink of an eye, I'll find myself back here again repeating the same thing - how I can't believe she is two, three, four, etc. This is how we spent her birthday weekend.

This time last year I was in labour with Bao! Now she's asleep in bed after a full day of shopping and walking around, while I labour (ahem) to churn out this last round-up post on our past year with her. It can be such a crazy rush for all four of us to get out of the apartment in the mornings. On non-playgroup days, it's not so bad. J does the morning school run with The Bun, so after they leave, I can slowly finish my tea, clean up the breakfast mess, and slowly settle into the chores of the day. Yesterday The Bun came home from school with Ellie the Elephant, a stuffed toy elephant. In his class, the 'special helper' of the day gets the privilege of taking Ellie home and showing her around, and it was The Bun's turn.
