Career Updates...

Today was the third day of training.  It was great since everyone is more comfortable with eachother and it's allowed us to get to know eachother as both friends and co-workers.

Today was a busy day.  From the moment that we got there, there were tests.  Three tests today and two tests yesterday.  Oh yeah, yesterday we took care of Tranfer techniques and boy did we ever get to practice.  Each and every one of us had to act as both the patient and the RA for all of the transfering techniques which were demonstrated.  My leg muscles hurt because of it but they hurt in a good way.  Here's a list of the areas which were covered yesterday and today.  Practical Living Skills, Basic Medical Medications, Restricted Health Conditions, Behavior, Documentation, Compassion Training, and Activities of Daily Living.  It doesn't seem like much, but trust me when I say that it was alot.  There were modules for all of them and tests which also had to be done.

Tomorrow, we'll be attending a Change of Shift Meeting, as well as going to a clients apartment with an experience RA or Nurse.  We'll be shadowing them for the day, and on Saturday we will be in charge of a patient on our own.  Yeah... Already.  But thankfully, there will be plenty of supervisiors around.

So the training is almost done and things are looking good.  After training, we'll have three months to complete: CPR and First Aid, as well as Pro-Act Training (Professional Assault Response Training).

After that, I'll work on advancing to becoming a Rehab Tech, then a Sr. Rehab Tech, followed by Sr. Rehab Specialist, and finally becoming a Certified Brain Injury Specialist.  If I follow everthing in the proper time frame back-to-back, I can become a CBIS is just one year.  That's a $700 bonus is just one year plus four raises besides the annual raise that same year.  Awesome, huh?

Well, that's all my updating for now.  I have to read a couple for pages from my Crim book.

Until next time.

Take care and ciao for now.
