As long time readers know, we have lost three cats since April. 
Kitty had FelV when we rescued him from the streets. He was happy and well for two years but then, as is the way of FelV, became deathly ill and despite trying to save him, he died in my arms.

Several of the cats used to play "feet under da' door" with Kitty.  They would bat at each others feet as one or the other stuck them under the door crack.  Obviously Kitty isn't doing that any more.  I have seen Queen, Willow, Ernie and Katie all sniffing around the door to Kitty's room, or staring at it intently.  Sorry kids...no more feet under ( Read more... )

At about 12:50 yesterday I prepared a syringe feeding for Kitty.  I went into his room and gently picked him up from where he was stretched out on the floor and set him on a towel on the bed.  I had just set the syringe into his mouth when he started gasping.  I set the instrument aside and stroked him while still supporting his head in my other ( Read more... )

Kitty has fluid around his lungs.  Heart looks and sounds good.  Lungs do not sound like they have fluid in them.  His intestines on the x-ray, in fact his whole abdominal cavity, look almost like he swallowed a sponge-there are few lines in the intestines, kidneys are hard to spot and his spleen was unfindable on x-ray AND when she felt him.  ( Read more... )

He is our Felv+ cat.  No problems for almost two years.  He ate breakfast Tuesday.  Skipped dinner Tuesday.  No food Wed.  Vet on Thursday.  Physical exam was excellent.  Anemic, which is common with FelV, and slight elevated white cells.  Got 2mg cypro at vet.  He vomited up his 100mg amoxicilan (sp?)
