That's what's coming to me when I wake up these days:  complete books in miniature - complete settings and the core conflict. Not full-blown plots or (always) conclusions, but the basic elements of the story are in place, and usually the major character/s to key into. I've made a delivery committment on my book and now have 4 months to finish it in. (or 3 months and 3 weeks, but who's counting).

I have some background as a professional storyteller - as in orally conveying stories in a performative way, rather than simply reading them out loud.  The art is akin to doing good dramatic monologues.  To me, there is a subtle qualitative (if not technical) difference between the two forms as performance art: storytelling seems to lend itself to ( Read more... )
