So I dunno if I've discussed this with a lot of people, but I've got a theory about the man Reginald VelJohnson better known as Carl Winslow from Family Matters. This theory deals with the fact that Reginald VelJohnson plays the same character in every movie or tv show you see him in. I don't mean he's typecast, I mean that in the pretend world of hollywood Reginald VelJohnson plays the same man in every movie he is in and the movies he appears in are all in the same 'movie world'
I will begin with the first and most obvious: Family Matters. Reginald is the head of the household and also a police officer. Reginald is also in the movie Die Hard where he plays guess what? A police officer.
Now initially those were the only two ties I had that Carl Winslow also hung out with Bruce Willis but about 6 months ago I'm watching Turner and Hooch and who do I see as a police officer but none other than Reginald. Now my theory is starting to take shape. I have 3 sightings of the same character. Well, the door was blown open today.
So this morning I'm sitting around watching Ghostbusters and it gets to the scene where Bill Murray and gang are locked up. Well my jaw hit the floor when I see none other than Carl Winslow walk up to the cell (in full cop uniform) deliver ONE LINE and then exit. That proved it. I now have 4 pieces of media where this guy shows up as a cop acting exactly the same. Good for you Reginald VelJohnson you're not typecast, you just know how to play one man. ...yourself.
