(no subject)
So I don't think I'm gonna make it to Ted Leo tonight. I've gone out every night this week so far and I need to save some money. That, and I saw two shows last night for less that I would have paid to see Ted Leo. That and I've seen Ted like 4 times and listen to him constantly at work so I'm sure I'm not missing TOO much (unless he breaks out new stuff) and honestly, everyone raves about georgie james but I saw their first show at the Ottobar and I was NOT impressed. They're just riding that very standard guy/girl guitar/keyboard thing that's going around like SARS in Toronto. (zing)
I had never been to the 8x10 before. The audio was really good but the place tried to act like it was bigger than it actually is. So I walk in and walk up to the ticket guy and break out my wallet. He goes 'do you have a ticket?' and I said 'No I'll just pay you.' and he said 'oh, you can't do that, you have to go outside and buy a ticket.' What the fuck? Where am I at goddamn Wolftrap with a fucking ticket booth? Anyways, I go out to the ticket booth and I show this guy my ID. He was like 'oh you gotta show the guy inside if you're over or under 21.' and I said 'Well I'm over 21 and I don't want to pay extra for my ticket.' So he responds with how I don't pay him extra, I pay the guy INSIDE extra if I'm under 21. What the fuck? Why pay two people to collect money when you can have one person just doing both. And then my ticket is one of those fucking carnival stubs. If he's gonna give me a ticket for all this trouble I want a fucking printed out piece of glossy paper.
And the club itself is about 1/3 of the size of the Ottobar. The drinks were over priced (4.50 for a Sam Adams yeah ok.) and the bartender was rude. So after Even So played I shot over to the Sidebar to catch Karmella's Game.
Now obviously the Sidebar is a step down as far as quality of venue, but the people were nice, the lady bartender blew me a kiss and I had a lot of fun. Adam from Avec was there so I talked to him about their new songs and his new job as a middle school librarian (awesome?) One of the guys from Assassinate Ceasar was also at the show. This guy is nice and all, he says hi when i see him at shows, ect. But his band is pretty less than good and he acted like a drunken fool all night. Karmellas Game came on and they rocked as per usual. It's so much fun to see them live.
So I got home around 1am, and actually got a decent night's sleep (now that I fixed my AC) and I'm doing ok at work today as far as fatigue considering IT'S HOTTER THAN FUCKING AFRICA RIGHT NOW. But I still don't believe in global warming.
