Light attendance of late. Sorry. I'm on day four of a four-day weekend (which has been pretty awesome) and have spent the minimum amount of time on the computer, which seems to have become my SOP on weekends these days.

Saturday, we did a Costco and Home Depot run - we have several Roman-style columns around the pool, most of which will eventually be firepots, but which are not currently set up for fire. So I figured I'd plant flowers in all of them and, when we're ready for fire, we'll just...unplant them. But it was a little too hot to plant this weekend, and I didn't care for the Home Depot flower selection, so I'll run up to Gardener's World (which is half a mile from my house) and get some flowers there. I fired up the Cricut that evening, which was fun. I need more cartridges. :-)

Sunday was a "do-nothing" day. Actually, it WASN'T - I cleaned the kitchen and our bathroom, but it FELT like one because there was a lot of downtime, watching Mythbusters and Lethal Weapon 3 and playing with Cat.

Yesterday was terrific. I took Cat to the allergist, who said that the best way to make sure her cat and dog allergies don't start manifesting is to have TWO cats and TWO dogs. One cat and one dog won't help. He also gave me a prescription for an epinephrine shot for her because of the egg allergy. He said that it will only come into play when she encounters eggs that aren't fully cooked. So mayonnaise, Caesar dressing, and some kinds of ice cream are out. But, if the eggs are fully cooked, they're fine. He said that, oddly enough, all the cases he's encountered in 20 years of kids going into anaphalactic shock were caused by oatmeal cookies, which are, apparently, brushed with a raw egg coating.

Then I took her to the babysitter, and Mom and I went to visit my grandmother. I fired up the recording software on my old laptop, and she talked about her family. We dug out some old photos she has - fascinating stuff. One is a 1906 photo of my 19-year old great-grandmother and her family (she was one of nine), and there's also a portrait of my great-great-grandmother, who died in 1927. We found a 1946 copy of my great-grandfather's birth and baptismal record from Crossmolina in County Mayo, Ireland, embossed with a seal I can't decipher yet.

Today's a work day. I'm going to wash the windows, and re-set my office - I'm going to move my computer back in there, and also try to set up some kind of station for scrapbooking. If I have time, I might get a pedicure - I have a $25 Visa gift card.
