So as one of my favorite songs says, I somehow managed to make another trip around the sun today. This is a special anniversary of the night I put my mom in the hospital though. It's the thirtieth such anniversary.

( That's right. The Titanic sank 100 years ago and 70 years later, I came screaming into this world demanding to know what the hell was going on and WHERE ARE MY PANTS? )

Today is Pearl Harbor Day.

68 years ago today an attack took America by surprise. It was declared "a day that will live in infamy" and was one of the main reasons we entered World War II.

I didn't actually know there was a day set aside to remember this event until I was stationed at Pearl Harbor and my ship was granted the honor of performing ( Read more... )
