I had been craving ice cream cake for a week. But, my memory has a specific kind of ice cream cake- one which I thought was Carvel, but I was horribly wrong. Carvel's icing is akin to the cheap, buttercream-lite you can get at the grocery store. Nay, I was looking for something rich and complementary to the ice cream itself. Also, I had a mild allergic reaction to the Carvel cake.
I'm embarrassed and annoyed by how emotional my eating has gotten recently. It's partly from boredom and partly from a desire to feel good. Kind of cliche, right? Thing is this suddenly comes up just as I'm trying to eat better in preparation for pregnancy. Maybe it's my Pre-Baby Bucket List. Here's the things I want to sample before I can't no more:
1. Ice Cream Cake - QUALITY, not this Carvel shit
2. Potatoes Au Gratin, from a box
Weird caveat, but I'm okay with having homemade, from scratch potatoes and cheese. It's the processed stuff on my bucket list.
3. HOT DOGS. All the hot dogs
In pregnancy these are to be avoided for increased Listeria exposure. It's also probably wise to not expose kids to hot dogs in general.
4. Potato chips & Helluva Good French Onion Dip
The chips are only a dip delivery system. All hail Helluva Good.
5. Alamo Drafthouse Queso with green chiles
6. A McFlurry
7. A pumpkin milkshake from Pack's Ice Cream stand
These things are enormous and crazy addicting.
8. Macaroni'n'Cheese, from a box
9. Extravagant sushi
I'm avoiding this also for environmental reasons. Maybe one last hurrah?
10. Port wine
11. Califonia red wine, in California
12. Virginia white wine, in California (hah!)
13. BBQ ribs
Another environmental sacrifice. I don't miss them, but one more go...
14. Pizza
Actually, not a huge fan of pizza unless it's over the top. Which is probably not pregnancy-friendly
15. Sub
No more deli meat after pregnancy!
16. Coleslaw
I love a good 'slaw. Also a listeria risk.
17. Coffee Frappachino
Sugar-bomb plus caffeine.
18. An Indian buffet lunch
Things I Dislike and Don't Care Either Way
1. Chocolate
2. Bacon
3. Hamburgers
I know, I know, I'm a freak.
4. Butter
5. Breads
6. Soft/unpasteurized cheeses
7. Seafood
Well, kind of. I gave up most seafood to help save fish populations and after years of forgoing I don't miss it. I only really want to eat the most resilient species.
8. Beer
