My weekend

Nov 22, 2010 22:48

We got quite a lot done this weekend.
  • I completed the applique for the banner I'm making for Griff and Ceri's wedding.  The whole thing needs hemming, but that's not really a big deal.  I'd post pictures, only it seems unfair to let other people see it before they do.
  • I started scanning Mum and Dad's photos.  A few Christmases ago, I was uninspired about what to get my parents.  I then had a brainwave - my parents are a bit technophobic, but like their digital photos, and have loads of photos in hard copy only.  I then offered to scan two of their albums as a Christmas present.  All went well - didn't take too long, parents were grateful, parents gleefully emailed all kinds of old photos to relatives, we had a look through and the obligatory laugh at the kind of things we wore in the 80s etc...  All in all, it went pretty much as I'd planned.  So next Christmas I did the same, and then the one after.  Last Christmas seems to have thrown up a problem.  The two next albums in the chronography are huge.  (And I didn't realise this at the time of my offer).  The last five have been inhabited by 90-110 photos.  Yesterday I spent a good time scanning and got up to 85 and I'm not even half way through.  Did I mention there are two?  *Sigh*
  • I finished making a hat for my cousin for Christmas.  It's pretty much the same as my psychedelic bobble hat, only fine-tuned so it's a bit less loose.
  • I started making Raun's Christmas present.  It's about 1/3 finished.
  • We got loads of crap out of the attic to be charity-shopped (including a metre long glass fish tank.  How we got it up there in the first place I can't remember).
  • We cleared one of the book-cases in the living room and took it to the dump.  This means we now have access to the alcove it was in for the purpose of stripping wallpaper and replastering, so we can in turn re-wallpaper and put in built-in shelves.  This will use the space more efficiently and also mean there is one less great-big-heavy-thing resting on the floor when it comes to putting down the new flooring. Yes, our DIY plans are like a sliding-block logic puzzle.  What of it?
  • I located my missing yarn and hot water bottle, and downloaded drivers which mean I don't need my errant scanner disc. My Red Dwarf audio book missing tape doesn't matter for the present because BBC 7 appear to be playing it *at exactly the place I left off*.  How jammy is that?  (Still no sign of my gameboy or photos, but NVM - they'll turn up).
