Rebel Prince

I did something naughty today.

I skipped a lecture. I skived for the first time in my medical career.

I wasn't planning to do it. I was planning to attend it because it seemed like something useful - it was about stress and time managment, delivered by one of my favorite professors.

It all started on Friday when I logged into the university's network from one of the university computers and the homepage opened as usual, displaying announcements and ads. One of the ads said something about a £20 Amazon.com voucher so I clicked on it and basically, some people in the university wanted some students to test a website and they'd get a £20 Amazon voucher (and free coffee!) in return.
So I signed up, shamelessly lusting after the voucher.

Then this morning I went to the Herschel Building where they'd called us to, around 9:45. Got some coffee - their coffee machine was absolutely wicked.. you just had to pick a kind of coffee or tea and put the appropriate sachet into the machine and it would make the coffee for you. Brilliant, really.
So we tested the website, took a break.. I got some lemon tea this time and a packet of (free!) chocolate Bourbon biscuits [can you imagine me with biscuit crumbs in my teeth?]. And then answered some questions.

Trouble is, I thought they'd finish in two hours ['cause they'd said they would] but the discussion about the website went on 'til a couple of minutes past noon, which is when my lecture was.
So I had to skip the lecture because it would've taken me five minutes to walk to the medical school and they frown upon people who come in late to lectures.

Oh well, I guess with all that Bourbon in my tummy and the £20 voucher I won't be having too much stress to manage.

And then today in the evening, the cashier-lady at the Food Co handed me an enormous (free!) Swiss roll because it had reached its expiration date. I swear, people in this country are just trying to get me fat - you know students can't resist free food, you crafty bastards! Unfortunately, I'm giving in to their attempts - the Swiss roll is all gone, already.

fun, university, danu, free food, me
