One of our doors is warped, allowing a persistent cold draft to enter the house. Installing seasonal weatherstripping tape is at best a temporary solution and a weekly nuisance to reseat.

My permanent solution is to install a new door stop with integrated weatherstrip. Home Depot carries a manufactured kit but I am unwilling to pay $22 each. Mine ( Read more... )

On my first day off:
Spent some time organizing the garage.
Oil change.
30 minute bike ride to buy an oil filter for aforementioned oil change.
Complete oil change.
Make a spam and cheese toasted sandwich.
Go to Costco for eneloop batteries which were out of stock.
Go to the hardware store and bought Gorilla glue.
Glued my Utility stand.

Following a stressing month, I decided to declutter the house a bit. The result is I'm now able to see 30% more of my wood veneer finish on my desk. Furthermore, my file cabinet is now empty and ready to be given to it's new owner. Had dinner Friday night at Pollo Rico with Tony, but no ice cream. May pick up an iPAQ 310 since it seemed quite nifty in his car.

Spent most of Saturday morning cleaning out fetid smelling gutters. Followed by a leisurely drive to Tysons to change my oil, shop at the Container Store and Tysons Corner. We found a couple nice watches for Chris but ( Read more... )

After Sunday's trip to Lowes, I was plenty thirsty. Across from Lowes was one of the few Northern VA-based Walgreens stores. I am now smitten with their fountain machine. They stock the standard Coke products, but additionally, you can add raspberry, lime, cherry, or vanilla flavor shots at no-cost. This meant I was able to get my 32oz Diet Vanilla ( Read more... )

Object reuse means not having to step outside to buy screws for your storm door when the ones from the old ceiling fan fit perfectly!

1) Washed Jeep and Subie.
2) Installed replacement OEM corner marker on Jeep (PITA).
3) Dropped off Lexmark printer to Goodwill. They didn't have any short dressers but I did get cruised. :-D
4) Installed ceiling fan and switch into guest bedroom (both sitting in a closet for two years).
5) Decluttered some papers.

Decluttering is an unending process for pack rats like me. Last year's purchase of a ScanSnap scanner is quickly helping me declutter yet save those sentimental moments.
