Classic black and white movie

My mom has been trying to find a movie for decades...she said she saw it as a child so around 1963. She said it's a black and white film and the plot is as follows:

A ship gets caught in rough seas..the ship captain threw a young girl overboard
Years later the same ship captain was shipwrecked on an island....turns out this is apparently where the young girl had washed up. She survived and grew up on the island and was now an adult and wanted revenge.

Any ideas??
