African musician who plays a guitar as if it were a zither?
Within the past couple weeks, I saw a YouTube video on someone’s Tumblr of an African guitarist (what gender I’m not certain-they were gaunt, elderly, and wore a head bandana), playing not only masterfully but in a fashion I’d never seen before: the guitar was flat on their lap, and they fretted with their left hand on the side of the neck toward them. One commenter noted that this positioning is characteristic of a whole local musical tradition.
