Autobiography Book

I remember reading this book when I was 17 (2008) but I can't remember the title or author. The book was written by a woman about her experience of depression and of being institutionalised. The book started with her talking about decorating and working on her house, I think her, her husband and their children moved a lot? She then tries to swerve

The closest I could find to your description was When Rabbit Howls by Truddi Chase? No idea if that's even it lol

This made me think of a book called Out of the Dark, by Linda Caine & Robin Royston.
