whatwasthatfilm without being found, so I thought I'd expand the search!
The film I'm looking for is (I'm almost certain) a black&white British film, I'm guessing 1950s. I saw it some time in the eighties, and it's bugging me now what it was!
Near/at the beginning, the main characters are gathered together for dinner, and (I think) to hear a will read. The funny/weird bit is the dinner was planned by the deceased (before his death, of course), and instead of him sitting at the head of the table, there's a projector screen there with him on it, talking to them. It was all planned together with the butler, who is serving the guests the same meal as he is serving the deceased on the film (there's some splendid bits where the butler walks behind the screen, and appears on the screen, because of course he was there when it was filmed and has planned his movements to coincide with the recorded ones).
That's the scene that's stuck in my mind, and the bit that's been bugging me for years as I can't remember what film it's from! I think the rest of the film might involve them doing whatever it is they're meant to do to get their inheritance, but I'm a bit hazy on that. The one bit I remember for certain is the projector screen at the dinner table.
Thanks!
