A two-fer: Greek Democratic Orator and British Sci-fi Clone Novel

Jul 15, 2009 17:27

In ancient Greek historical record there is an orator who was a famous (or infamous) Democrat. According to some accounts his wife was very outspoken and unusually for women debated among men in her home. By some accounts she was a courtesan. What was her name?

There's a British sci-fi novel in which clones of people would appear and attempt to kill them. They would grow out of other people. It was an alien plot to destroy the human species. This typically only happened once per person however the main character's persona spawned an army of clones including one alien 'leader'. What is the name and who is the author of this book?

ETA: Question has been answered. Thank you very much.
