I'm looking for a book I read in an Ethnic Studies class two years ago. It was a book written by an Asian author. He wrote basically about the history of racism and different struggles that people went through, such as people in Hawaii, African americans, Asian Americans, etc. It was historical, and I think chronological, but I could be wrong.

In the beginning of the book, he told a story about how he was in a cab and the cab driver assumed that since he was Asian, he must not know English and commented that his English was very good, even though he was 3rd or 4th generation here.

Thanks!

ETA: Nevermind. I had an epiphany this morning and remembered. It's A Different Mirror by Ronald Takaki.
