Had a pretty good weekend. Saturday was just full of chores that we needed to get done. Sunday, went over to a friend's house to help them celebrate their son's birthday. artana made a "Aang from Avatar" cake as a present. She did a great job for a last minute rush. Kind of surprises me that Google doesn't have a non-compete clause in their contract or something. Apparently a bunch of ex-googlers(?) formed Cuil.com (prounced: "Cool"). Ah well, another pretty "web 2.0" site that isn't performing well at the moment.

I've been working on a codebase of an admin at home so that it doesn't get intermingled with work's. A month or so ago, I broke the codebase by making a major change and I left it unresolved as I came across an issue that I was having a hard time debugging and my will to continue progress was dwindling. Happily kicks iTunes off his computer. Media Monkey to the rescue! iPod synch tool in it is great as well.

I went crawling back to iTunes. I gave Songbird a decent chance. The iPod plug-in for it has issues. They're currently in the process of rewriting the plug-in, but from the notes I've read, it's only stable with 0.4 version of Songbird. That being said, stability wasn't my complaint. Don't know why, but I had a fun time messing around with Apache ReWrite / Regular Expression last night. I think maybe because it flexes the noodle a little bit. One thing I don't like about regular expression is that I thought maybe I could get away with [0-9]{2} to say I want a 2 digit number, but I couldn't and has to write it as ([0-9]|[1-9][ ( Read more... )

Just a follow-up note reporting on replacing iTunes with Songbird. I'm successfully running Songbird 0.5 and able to sync with my iPod classic (60g). It's unfortunate that I had to install iTunes first to do some stuff on the iPod (restore the device to default factory settings via iTunes), but once it was done, I haven't opened iTunes since. Twitter vs. Pownce vs. Instant Messaging: Twitter.com and Pownce.com are nearly the same thing. Twitter has messages limited up to 140 characters.
