Chris's daughter Beth was in a bad car accident today.  Her neck is broken... a couple of vertebrae in her neck are crushed, actually.  A couple of broken ribs, a punctured lung, and a laceration from the top of her head to the outer corner of her left eye.  She is in surgery right now to replace the crushed neck bone with titanium plate.   If this ( Read more... )

Had a good day today.  Chris and I woke up late (for us)  8:00 am.  Kind of out of the blue, she said "I want to go to the racetrack!"  Slots/casino is in it's infancy here, but a former coworker of mine used to regularly go to Charles Town Racetrack to play slots.

Almost another year has gone by... our kids are another year older. There are now two grandchildren which she never met. I have moved on in my life. I trusted someone else who declared herself to be my best friend. After she was gone, I met Chris, and somehow fell in love despite the fact that I'd had my heart broken twice in the recent past. Yesterday was pridefest in Harrisburg.  It was a perfect day:  not a cloud in the sky.  Hot but not quite so humid that you can't stand it.  It was held in Riverfront park, right along the sparkling Susquehanna.  We took Darrin for the first time, hoping to show him a good day.  Before we even found a place to park, we were met by protesters.  One ( Read more... )

Well, Chris has finally graduated! She received her MSW last Thursday in Connecticut. We then went to Nockamixon State Park and cabin/camped for three nights. We had a lot of fun but believe it or not, there's no place like home.... even if it means coming back to [ugh! ] work.
