9 days ago, she had an appointment to get her gastric band filled. It's an office procedure: it takes about a half hour.
9 days, two surgeries, 4 nights in the hospital, six incisions, seven IVs later... we are trying to return to life as normal.
There is only about a 2.3% chance that a gastric band will slip and cause the stomach to prolapse. When it does, however, there is an critical need for treatment. Failure to treat could result in excessive scar tissue, ulceration, puncture of the stomach wall, necrosis, infection.
There is about a 4.7% occurance of port flip.
I have no ideal what the odds are that both will occur.
Thank god she's back on the road to recovery.
