I left for my mother's on Tuesday afternoon and got back into town this morning. The time there was very relaxing, especially since we could sit outside where the air was even slightly moving in the middle of this heatwave. It's been snowing! A bit early in the year (normally first snow comes to Helsinki sometime in November-December), but there was definitely some white stuff coming down from the sky earlier today. Luckily it was still quickly transformed to water once it touched the ground...

As I said in my previous post, I'd won two tickets to the special showing of Lost's Pilot (the two-parter cut into on long film) at a local movie theatre. As I promised, here are my thoughts on yesterday's (and also today's) films. I'm using a 1-10 scale in my grading, but I'm usually quite easy with it and rarely give a film less than 5 points, and if I do it's *really* bad (example: Highlander II: The Quickening got 2/10 from me...)

It's the newest book by Diana Wynne Jones, and though I already read it once about half year ago, it's still quite another thing to have my own copy of the book (I don't usually get to keep the ARCs/manuscripts I read). It seems the winter is finally coming, since we got the first snow that stayed in the ground yesterday. It's amazing how much a little snow can help to lighten up the scenery. I hate the dark, cold, rainy days of winter and would much prefer to always have a little snow on the ground. It's a pity that Helsinki winters are usually more of the dark ( Read more... )
