hey, i have a bunch of strawberries that are on their last legs, and some bruised apples. i also have flour, white sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, baking powder, and cocoa. any delicious ideas? where i don't have to buy more groceries?

This year my coworkers and friends are getting homemade granola. Here's the recipe I've come up with after significantly modifying Mark Bittman's. I got a white acorn squash at the farmer's market almost two weeks ago. It was definitely an impulse buy; but in my defense; one of the farmer's had various hard squashes for a dollar each-regardless of size or weight. I made this for a brunch today, and it turned out quite well (thanks to the folks here who weighed in on the acceptability of the ingredients!). The nuts could be swapped out or done with a single nut, but the combination was rather tasty.
